The IPCC consensus on climate change was phoney, says IPCC insider

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was “only a few dozen experts,” he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.

“Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous,” the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered “the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.”

Hulme, Professor of Climate Change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia – the university of Climategate fame — is the founding Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and one of the UK’s most prominent climate scientists. Among his many roles in the climate change establishment, Hulme was the IPCC’s co-ordinating Lead Author for its chapter on ‘Climate scenario development’ for its Third Assessment Report and a contributing author of several other chapters.

BULLET POINTS FOR TESTIMONY AT RI SENATE HEARING ON REVIVING WIND FARM  PROJECT

The following is the rest of our testimony regarding S 2819.  We will forward this to all members of the House, Senate and the governor’s office to address  the  ruse of man caused climate change  leading to this rush to alternative energy which may destroy  Rhode Island’s economy further.  The facts we presented at the hearing and herein are irrefutable but we welcome any challenges thereto.

• Spain has been in the forefront of promoting “GREEN” projects with the idea it will grow jobs and help the economy.   Specifically in wind energy, Spain is the leading nation on earth by many measures in implementing wind energy projects.    She is now abandoning the idea with severe regrets.  Amongst other things, official Spanish Gov’t statistics show that for every new green job created by “renewable energy” projects, 2.2 existing jobs were lost, and additionally, the lost jobs were permanent jobs lost while the MAJORITY of the green jobs created were temporary.    When Spain, the first nation to aggressively implement this policy, first announced it, the Tea Party Patriot’s science advisor had estimated that they would probably destroy 2 existing jobs for every green job, pretty close to the actual 2.2 figure recently confirmed by the Spanish authorities.   Our own advisor also foresaw that the few green jobs would be mostly temporary, while their creation would come at the cost of double the number of permanent jobs.

• Wind farms in particular have the worst financial figures of any renewable energy method.   The typical windmill project costs about 50 times the annual net revenue, which means it will take 50 years to recoup its up front costs.  And this does NOT include maintenance, which is extremely high.  These farms in fact will not last long enough to recoup their cost.    They will be a dead loss.  The Governor wants to rush to be the first one into the Spain disaster.  That means R.I. will be the first Greece of the U.S.

• Wind and solar provide less than 1% of our energy and do even that much only because of HUGE gov’t subsidies.   For THIRTY YEARS – ever since Pres Carter pushed for renewable energy development –  WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET TO OVER 1% of our energy needs from wind for 3 decades.

• USING FALSE STATISTICS.  They use the MAX output as the power rating on wind farm, but you can only count on about 1/3 of that in practice while traditional sources like nuke, coal, oil, etc give 90% of their power ratings  DON’T LET THEM BAMBOOZLE YOU ON THIS). The reason is that when you apply the irrefutable principles of simple arithmetic and geometry (land area of earth, etc) to the BASIC laws of physics, it can be shown that we are “tilting at windmills” in this project.  Wind will NEVER be a viable means for producing the energy we need or any significant amount of it.  This is as certain as the fact that you will never build a perpetual motion machine.  It would require a repeal of the basic laws of nature that govern our universe. The alternative is Demarks outrageous electric costs which will further destroy jobs in R.I.

• Wind farms cause health problems.   They cause ultra low frequency vibrations and shadow flicker, both of which cause severe health problems for humans and animals.   Near wind farms in Canada, which have been up longer than those in the US, property values have in some areas fallen effectively to zero because it is impossible to endure living in the homes built and occupied prior to the installation of nearby wind farms.  Still further, Block Island is a stopping point for many species of migratory birds, and wind farms are known to be devastatingly fatal to migrating flocks. • The alleged need for wind energy is based entirely on the acceptance of the Anthropogenic Global Warming hypothesis which has been proven 100% false.   This is a huge topic in itself, which we will elaborate on separately. Please see Climate Fraud letter of 4/5/10.  For doubters, we tell you one key fact that this hypothesis is a PURE hypothesis, and it contradicts all the facts. Climategate has finally shown this in a way that even the layman can understand  Despite $50 BILLION plus of wasted tax payer money on research and thousands of published papers, NOT A SINGLE ONE has EVER been able to find or show even a shred of evidence for man’s slightest influence on climate or temperature by means of ANY activity man engages in.  Morry has told me he will buy dinner for every senator at this hearing, (most did not attend) at the restaurant of his choice, if he can locate any paper such as just described which does show any evidence linking man’s behavior to climate or temperature  change.

• As I stated, we would be willing to debate any one or any group of people, including Al Gore and the entire science staff of the IPCC, on this issue, or anyone else the RI legislature would like to put up against our experts, on these topics.  Guaranteed, both General assembly and the Governors office will accept our challenge.  This is why the advocates of the ideas this legislature has been duped by, they are perennially unwilling to accept challenges to debate.  They do not want someone knowledgeable to expose their fraud in front of a public audience.

• Here is a point in favor of fossil fuels, the falsely damned source of our energy for which most people alive today owe their very existence:   Did you ever stop to realize that burning petroleum is the ULTIMATE FORM OF RECYCLING?  Crude oil and coal are the organic remains of long dead animals and plants.   Man burns their remains and puts co2 into the atmosphere.   Co2 is to plants what oxygen is to animals.  It is the essential ingredient for their very survival.   In co2-rich environments, plants and trees flourish, and need less water to produce more biomass.   Thus, by burning fossil fuels, man is recycling the remains of the past dead into thriving green life today, creating biodiversity since plant life is the start of the food chain for all life on earth.

• Look at the facts.  Since industrialization really picked up steam after WWII, America has begun greening like never before.   The land mass of the continental USA is more green now than it has been for at LEAST a century, and many experts feel we are now greener than we’ve ever been since the time of the Revolutionary War.  Why?  Because ironically industrialization goes hand in hand with greening.   Remember the recycling point above.  The fact is that the number of trees in the US has been increasing dramatically for decades.   Every single year, our forests increase in biomass by 600 lbs for every man, woman, and child in the US.  That’s every SINGLE YEAR.   That comes to almost a TON of new trees every 3 years PER PERSON.  And that is trees only.  This material keeps building prices down.  Grasses, flowers, and other food plants are also increasing. Contrary to Al Gore and what is being taught in our schools, because of this global fraud, CO2 IS WONDERFUL FOR LIVING THINGS AND FOR ALL LIFE ON THIS PLANET.   Now R.I. want to limit it CO2?

• Over 32,000 people with science and engineering degrees in RELEVANT areas have signed a petition to governments to cease the harmful policies against co2 because it is beneficial, and because the man-caused global warming hypothesis has NO MERIT.   Over 9,000 of them are PhDs in physics, chemistry, meteorology, geology, fluid dynamics, atmospheric science, etc.   These facts have been  suppressed by the State controlled “progressive” press.   This figure is more than a DOZEN TIMES the number of scientists the UN’s IPCC claims supports its view, yet they claim the debate is over.   That is an egregious crime that justice demands prosecution we have called for.  In fact, the UN has at most 400 scientists on its side, and the number is dropping every day.  They bloat their list by refusing to remove the names of scientists who came on board.  Those that had enough integrity to quit when they saw the shenanigans the U.N. was perpetrating wanted out. They saw that the UN was totally distorting the work they submitted to the U.N. when publishing its reports for the public.  Morry has told me of one fellow he knew who, after being ignored many times, finally had to threaten a suit against the U.N. for defamation of character.  They would not remove his name from their list of scientists in support of what he and all genuine scientists regard as junk science and a hoax.  It was only when he threatened a suit which would have brought a public spotlight on the U.N.’s chicanery, that the U.N. finally removed his name from their list.  Undoubtedly there are a lot of other names still remaining on their list of scientist who in fact disagree with the U.N.’s provable fraud about global warming.

• Anyone who reads the Climategate document sees that they go way beyond the requirement of proof that this has been a conspiracy to defraud and mislead the public and policy makers.    READ THE ACTUAL DOCUMENTS.   There are explicit discussions on how to distort data, on how to muzzle the opposition, etc.  It is totally devastating and destroys any remnant of human respect these conspirators might otherwise have hoped to salvage.  In Europe and Asia, the press is screaming for prosecution of the conspirators who were the SOURCE OF THE RAW DATA USED BY ALL CLIMATE SCIENC RESEARCH around the globe.  If our State wants to get back as a leader, not a follower.  We need to prosecute for the fraud on you in passing “Reggi” RIGL 23-82-1.  See letter of 4/5/10, hand delivered and emailed to all General Assembly and Governor’s office.

• Prof Richard Lindzen, head of the meteorology dept at MIT, has nothing but contempt for the junk science of AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming).  Prof Lindzen is a REAL scientist, not just someone who took some science courses and can use his degree to pose as a scientist while engaged in producing propaganda for a political agenda.     Indeed, last year he published a paper (in a peer reviewed, bona fide journal) proving that the feedback mechanisms in atmospheric chemical reactions are NEGATIVE not POSITIVE as is crucial to the claim that co2 can cause a rising atmospheric temperature.   Prof Lindzen has shown that, just as you can dissolve only so much water in the air before it precipitates out as rain, or just as you can only dissolve so much salt in water before it starts just dropping to the bottom of the glass, similarly the co2’s effect in the atmosphere quickly reaches a maximum after which further additions have virtually ZERO effect.    Prof Lindzen has just demonstrated that this is the way our world behaves.   This is only one more on the huge list of items, any one of which is sufficient to TOTALLY DISPROVE the AGW hypothesis.  This was brought to the attention of our U.S. Rep. Langiven and Kennedy, and Senators Reed and Whitehouse, over the summer at town halls and in letters, but  Rhode Island is now just another foolish follower, instead of the leader it once us to be. • Without the lengthy details, there exists NO shortage of energy in this country or the world.  It is purely the foolish energy policy of our nation based on non-science and junk science by “Eco terrorist”, politics and mob rule which have been preventing us from access to the abundant energy supplies we have.   We undoubtedly have enough fossil fuels to last us for well over 1,000 years, and nuclear to provide our electricity needs for over a million years.    Our descendants will look at us as insane for our energy policies today for spending billions and sending jobs abroad when we have the resources here.  They will be right.  Can R.I. lead again, or will be following fools.

• On the US side of the Atlantic the State controlled press has been very unforgivably slow to report the full impact of Climategate.  IN England even the media who were gung ho supporters of AGW are now calling for legal prosecution of the charlatans and conspirators previously regarded as “scientists” at the Univ Of East Anglia’s CRU (climate research unit).    Theon, who was Hansen’s boss at Nasa, has now totally damned Jim Hansen.   Theon was Hansen’s boss, at Nasa.   Hansen got a big name because he was willing to sell his soul for fame and money to Al Gore, who made Hansen his protégé and made him rich and famous for prostituting the science and abusing his employment at NASA for a false cover of prestige.

• Closer to home:    Our own Brown University, in its Alumni Letter last year, ran an article about how its own science faculty included amongst its top authorities many who vehemently oppose what they regard as the junk science of AGW.  The debate never has been settled as the UN and Al Gore would have you believe.   The debate amongst REAL scientists was settled long ago, AGAINST the junk science of AGW.   The only debate they had was against imposter scientists, and charlatan hoaxsters like Gore and the IPCC.  Climategate is just the icing on the cake that makes it clear to the layman what real scientists have known for two decades.  Do you lead to correct these crimes, like we will do, or will R. I. ‘s government  cower and  conceal  these reprehensible crimes.

• In 1877 the assembly of the state of Indiana was about to pass a law that everyone in the state must use the value 3.2 for pi.   By lucky chance, a math professor happened to be visiting the capital city, and decided to take a stroll through the capitol’s buildings, where he overheard a conversation about the law.   He was aghast, sought out its promoters, and gave them a brief enough education to stop themselves from making themselves and their state into a laughing stock.    Apparently this lesson has been lost on our governor and on many of our own legislators here in the 21^st century, almost 150 years later.   If RI builds this project, not only will it destroy jobs, grievously harm the state’s already-battered economy, flush untold fortunes worth of taxpayer monies down the drain, and inflict an unnecessary hardship on our citizens which will hurt the poorest the most, but it will also force history to label RI as the backward fools who blindly followed know false facts.

• Finally, a comment Morry asked me to make on his behalf that I and most R.I. Patriots share.  Morry wants to tell you that as a kid growing up in RI he was proud of his state and his status as a citizen of it.  RI was the spunkiest and most advanced state in the union by many measures.   We were the first to declare our independence, 2 months before the others did on the 4^th of July.  Little Rhody stood up on her own first.   She was the last to ratify the constitution, so jealous was she of her own independence.   Her mascot is the Independent Man who sits above the state house where we now sit.    RI was the fountainhead of our nation’s early progress, the leader of the industrial revolution in the US, which was the leader of the industrial revolution in the world.  Our textile and jewelry industries, our arts and culture, our expertise in precision machinery.  Did you know that for many decades anyone who worked for Brown & Sharpe could get a job as a machinist anywhere in the world just by having worked for them?   Did you know that at the height of the steam engine’s heyday, it was to RI that the world came for the biggest and best steam engines ever made in history?  Did you know there is a museum in southern RI where working examples of these large engines still are maintained?    Our state was founded by Roger Williams, a man of intellect and wisdom who beat our nation’s founding fathers to the punch by about a full century.   You may know that England is credited as the 1^st nation to end slavery in practice, and the US is the first to actually end it legally, by passing laws to formally abolish it.  But did any of you know that the colony of RI abolished slavery within its borders almost a century earlier?    We were justifiably proud to be a .RI.er when kids.   Now we are ashamed.   We have killed the goose that was laying our golden eggs.    We are a poor state now, with high taxes and poverty our hallmarks.  And we are intellectually regressive as well.    When Morry told his science-oriented friends about the wind farm proposal in RI, they laughed at him, and said they didn’t know inbred hillbillies came from New England.   Here we are, with Climategate having ended the biggest hoax in the history of science, and the US is behind the pack as the rest of the world understands perfectly what dupes they have unfortunately been at the hands of despicable charlatans and conspirators.    The truth is slowly but surely catching up to the US state controlled media and the people will be fully aware of it not too long from now.    Meanwhile, the State of RI is actually considering another boondoggle based entirely on the validity of that junk science falsehood they bought on Reggi “Green house gas initiative act”.    We used to a leader amongst leaders.    The United States of America led the world and we led the United States.   Now the US is becoming a follower, and RI is becoming the last in line in the pack of lemmings.

• In closing we have a chance once again to lead our country back on a path of truth, justice, and integrity, to be a leader again, not just another political pusillanimous puppet of Big Government.    The Grass Roots groups of R.I. have already chosen our path last year and will all together stay ever vigilant to make our State and country great again.

RI LEGISLATURE DUPED BY HOAX; PASSES LEGISLATION URGED BY    CHARLATANS FACING FELONY & FRAUD INDICTMENTS.

Introduction and Demand for Investigation

This is an introductory “preview” to a more complete package of information which will be distributed to every RI State legislator in the near future.   Its purpose is to save the people of Rhode Island from the gross dereliction of their obligations of office by elected state legislators to date by enlightening said legislators regarding the misinformation they have suffered under and on which they have based damaging legislation and various ill-advised state projects.

Meanwhile, substantial detrimental economic consequences have already been imposed on the citizens of Rhode Island by the perpetrators of the Anthropogenic Global Warming hoax, via their intentional dissemination of false information, in an attempt to enrich themselves financially and/or further other personal interests which are not directly measurable in money terms.

RI Tea Party Patriots and its affiliated citizens’ groups throughout the state, demand a full investigation by the legislature or a commission it appoints, of the parties involved in the Anthropogenic Global Warming Hoax, as well as a thorough assessment of all damages inflicted on RI citizens to date by otherwise unnecessary taxation, increased prices, deprivation of services, and other means, unnecessarily imposed on them by tax increases, by legislative, regulatory, or other state grants, salaries, benefits, etc. and by other expenditures which have resulted from the:

(1) intentional propagation of false and fraudulent information for the purpose of defrauding the public for the advantage of various individuals and special interests, and;

(2) negligence by elected and appointed state officials and dereliction of their duty to inform themselves of easily available facts before implementing policies known to be harmful and damaging to the health and financial well-being of the citizens whose interests they are mandated to protect, by law and/or by their oaths of office.

Repeal of Law based on False & Fraudulent Information

There is no doubt that history will judge the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Act approved by the state’s General Assembly – if it is allowed to stand un-repealed — as one of the worst examples of state law ever passed in the entire nation’s history — NOT just in Rhode Island’s history.  A few other states have passed similar laws, but RI’s is so broad and vague that it grants virtually unlimited power to impose thoroughly benighted and catastrophically destructive policies on the citizens of the state, with virtually no legislative constraint..

RI Tea Party Patriots and its affiliated citizens’ groups throughout the state, demand immediate repeal of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Act.

This law is based on the fraudulent, proven-to-be-a-hoax hypothesis of  Anthropogenic (ie, man-caused) Global Warming hypothesis.  An attachment to this memo provides a very brief overview of the proofs and evidences which demonstrate the undisputable fraudulence of the claims of this (AGW) hypothesis.

Some Consequences of Implementation of Benighted Legislation

The first major practical implementation of that junk science in our state – the Block Island windmill farm – is about to be inflicted on the people, to the gross detriment of almost every citizen (there are a very few who will become wealthy at the expense of the vast majority).  This includes the residents of Block Island, whose current glee at the prospect of lower (subsidized) electric bills will rapidly turn to outrage and regret when they learn the astronomical other costs of this mother of all RI State boondoggles, both in dollars and in the horrible other consequences it will impose, permanently, on the life-style which Block Island residents have historically enjoyed.   Once operative, this windmill farm threatens to destroy that historical Block Island environment and lifestyle, just as others elsewhere in the nation have done, and also threatens to reduce property values, possibly to LESS THAN ZERO in some cases, as has occurred in the vicinity of windmill projects elsewhere.

(We have no qualms about admitting explicitly that his memo is incidentally intended to serve as an “I told you so,’ for the time when the consequences above arrive, as they will much sooner than the consequences of most ill-conceived legislation.    Legislators, informed in advance by this memo of exactly those consequences of their actions which do in fact arise, will have a very difficult time justifying their actions if they now refuse to do at least some significant  “due diligence” first.   They will also have a difficult time ducking blame for the very consequences they are being specifically warned about herein, and will be warned about in more thorough detail by the package to be distributed in the near future.)

Legislators have been Misinformed;  Harm to Citizens has & will result

Our legislators have been misinformed.   This memo introduces what the more complete information package to come will complete:  a reasonably thorough education on the full context of this critical topic, which our state’s misinformed legislators desperately need.

Of necessity, this communication provides only an extremely abbreviated list of facts, themselves extremely abbreviated.   The aim is to provide legislators a “handshake acquaintance” with the vastly enormous body of facts, logic, and science demonstrating irrefutably that the view our state legislature has adopted on this issue couldn’t be more wrong.   That very short, very abbreviated list is attached to this memo, and will be further amplified by the package to be distributed in the near future.

When you consider that the AGW hoax has been almost 30 years in the making and in the propagandizing, it should not be a surprise to learn that 1,000 pages would be insufficient to list and describe thoroughly every falsehood and fraudulent statement or argument put forward on its behalf.

In 1877 the House of the State of Indiana proposed bill #246 which aimed to legislate the value of pi at 3.2.    This was akin to attempting at legislating the repeal of the law of gravity.   The only thing that prevented passage of the bill was the (fortunate!!) happenstance visit to the capital city of a mathematics professor from out of town who, upon learning about the proposed legislation, tactfully informed some of its key backers how insane it was, shaking his head in disbelief privately, afterward..   This memo is being written in the hope that it may help curb an even less excusably insane moment indulged in by the RI state legislature when it approved state Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Act.  There will be NO benefit from that law, and there will be INESTIMABLE, CATASTROPHIC harm wreaked on the state’s residents by it – all for absolutely no justifiable reason whatsoever.

Current Irony in the Context of RI’s State History

In the early years of this nation’s existence, the State of Rhode Island was not only a leader of the new nation’s industry, technology, economic vibrance, social harmony, educational quality, and intellectual development, but was actually a world leader in many of these areas.   Having lost sight of the principles our founders propounded, we have now travelled to or very near to the bottom of the 50-state list in almost every one of these categories.   The RI State legislature, by passing Cap & Trade legislation and authorizing other projects and regulations based on the benighted non-science of man-caused global warming, has demonstrated how deserving it is of its growing reputation for ignorance and gross incompetence.

It is ironic that, having abandoned the revolutionary new ideas anticipated by our own Roger Williams in the 17^th century and later implemented by the nation’s founding fathers in the 18th, our state’s leaders are now running the State, in the 21^st century, on fairy-tale “knowledge” which actually has LESS scientific basis than the benighted medical practice of blood-letting which contributed to George Washington’s death.

To be fair, there is one redeeming virtue of the State Legislature’s passage of cap & trade law.  During the almost 30 years of the unremitting demoralization and hopelessness which public ignorance has caused genuine scientists and other well-informed experts across this nation, the act of the RI legislature has offered one of the few moments of relief, in the form of an amusement capable of rivaling the humor of the Indiana State Legislature’s attempt to legislate the wrong value of pi almost 150 years ago.

Ironically and sadly, under the leadership of her State Legislature, Rhode Island is about to embarrass herself as the last to cling to the hoax science of the AGW hypothesis.   Ever since the Climategate documents were released late last year, it has been readily acknowledged all over the world that the AGW hypothesis is a complete hoax, an intentional conspiracy to mislead the public, the media, and politicians, by a coterie of pseudo-scientists located primarily in the US and the UK.    In England and the rest of Europe, in Russia, in Australia, in China, India, Japan and other nations, the exposure of the truth (known by genuine scientists for almost 30 years) has been shocking, but they have faced it.    Men like Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, or Prof. Michael of Pennsylvania State University, have been marked as charlatans, frauds, and conspirators in news headlines even of papers and magazines which had formerly been ardent supporters of the hoax they managed, and with indictments expected to be issued shortly and successful prosecution of them expected to be a virtual certainty based on the overwhelmingly conclusive evidence and hard factual proof.    The US media stands alone in the advanced nations, refusing to acknowledge its past error in falling for and supporting this now-conclusively proven junk science and refusing to cover the scandal to an extent that even begins to approach the coverage by overseas media.

As nations, scientific organizations, media, individual scientists, intellectuals, political leaders, authors, commentators, and other recognized authorities world-wide are accelerating toward near-unanimity in the reversal of their previous support for AGW, Rhode Island is belatedly about to jump on the bandwagon of the crusade which the rest of the world is now acknowledging to be a thorough hoax.   While others may, in many instances, be closing the barn door after the horse has escaped, Rhode Island is wasting the assets of its citizenry by ripping the barn doors off their hinges in order to widen the opening in a thoroughly misguided attempt to get the horses out – out of a barn that is already empty.

Rhode Island, the former maverick, the icon of independent thinking, the state which was first to have the courage of its feisty convictions and declare its own independence, the state which was last to yield its complete independence by ratifying the Constitution, RHODE ISLAND, the historical leader, vanguard, and icon for the intellectual revolution that ;made America a milestone in human history;  the state which stood against the crowd and went confidently down its own chosen path;  our RHODE ISLAND is now – at the behest of its state legislators – not merely turning into a lemming, but the lemming who’s last in line, joining the stampede for the precipice even after it has become clear to virtually all other observers that the road she’s chosen is suicidal.     At the risk of being accused, correctly, of having the capacity to feel as well as to think, the writer of this memo finds this irony in the reversal of RI’s character to be an indescribably sad betrayal of her heritage, of the ideas of Roger Williams, and most of all, of the character of the men who were responsible for RI’s long-past greatness.

Anyone who has read the Climategate emails and other documents knows that there is NO doubt but that this was a conscious, intentional conspiracy perpetrated for ulterior motives.  Denials of this fact are the typical pleading of “not guilty” of most guilty defendants even in the face of overwhelming proof, and these denials count on the fact that only an extremely tiny  percentage of people will actually read the Climategate papers – so they can spin and directly lie about their content and the vast majority will have no way of discerning their lies.

The hoax nature of the AGW hypothesis and the charlatanism of its leading advocates has been known by the most well respected scientists in the world for over 2 decades, but the press and most politicians have refused to listen to them.   (See the attachment to this memo.)   The conspirators have compounded their illegal behavior both before and since their exposure by refusing to comply with Freedom of Information Act requests, and by delaying their response to same beyond the permissible legal deadlines.   The processes of indictment and prosecution are now underway in Great Britain.

Investigation, Compensatory Legal Damages, and Punishment

RI Tea Party Patriots and its affiliated citizens’ groups throughout the state, demand a FULL investigation by the RI legislature of Dr. Phil Jones, Professor Michael Mann, ex-Vice President Albert Gore, Prof. Stephen Schneider, all members of the UN’s IPCC science advisory panel who are US citizens, all participants in the document and email production and exchange of the so-called “Climategate” documents, all the faculty members, department heads, and other personnel and officers and officials at every institution of higher learning in the state who has been directly or indirectly involved in doing research, submitting grants for research, or otherwise involved in spending government disbursed funds for research on Anthropogenic Global Warming in or outside the State of RI which may have had a financial or health impact on the citizens of RI, for the purpose of ascertaining whether each or any of the parties involved in these activities were aware of and/or complicit in the perpetration of fraud in obtaining funding based on what they knew to be fallacious scientific claims; whether or not each of the parties reported ALL the results of their research obtained at taxpayer expense or only that portion of it which did not contradict their grant claims; whether the research actually done by them or those whom they directed was exclusively and directly aimed at the particular goals specified in the grant applications by means of which the funding for said research was obtained; whether & how much of the taxpayer funds were used for any purposes whatsoever other than the purposes for which they were granted;  and whether any of these parties conspired with others to engage in any of the foregoing activities, each of which is deemed to be fraud by the laws and regulations under which such grants are awarded, and in the event that evidence of such fraud is found, the RI Tea Party Patriots and its affiliated citizens’ groups throughout the state,  ALSO DEMAND that the appropriate legal remedies, in full, be pursued to (A) retrieve, insofar as possible, for the benefit of the Treasury of the State of RI, whatever of the  taxpayers funds are demonstrated to have been fraudulently acquired and/or spent;  (B) that those proven to have engaged in conspiratorial activities to obtain or use such funds fraudulently be prosecuted and, if found guilty, punished to the full permissible extent of the law as a deterrent to prevent future such raids against the wealth and well-being of the citizens of the State of Rhode Island; and (C) that further compensation be sought for any and all consequential damages suffered by any residents of the State of RI, or to replenish funds expended by the orders of State officials or the legislature in the pursuit of goals falsely established as desirable by the members of the conspiracy to intentionally mislead state officials and legisltors into such consequential expenditures, via known fraudulent information.

Summary & Epilogue (in an approximate manner of speaking)

Causes have effects.  The consequences if current policies are carried through will be far more disastrous than almost anyone realizes, and they will be inescapable.   Decimation of our state’s economy – already well along the road toward collapse – will be only one of these consequences.   Full and rapid implementation of carbon-emission regulation will, amongst other things, easily drive our state’s unemployment rate well beyond even Michigan’s near-20% — and that will not be the worst of the consequences; it’s singled out for mention only because it is a statistic familiar to everyone and the easiest for most to grasp.   The writer of this memo is of the opinion that, should the provisions of the already-passed Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Act be implemented, the state’s unemployment rate could rise to SIGNIFICANLY higher than the highest level it reached during the depression of the 1930s, and that there would also be costs in health AND LIVES that are difficult to measure with precision until the exact extent of the provisions’ implementation is known – but it can be logically proven with scientific certainty that many Rhode Islanders will actually lose their lives or have their lives unnecessarily foreshortened should the actions authorized by the provisions of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Act actually be implemented.

The AGW fraud has been operating for almost 30 years.   It is not going to unravel overnight, but unravel it will, without doubt.    Those duped by it who are intelligent enough to switch to the correct side early on, will probably avoid most of the damaging consequences of their past errors.   This explains the race to jump off the sinking AGW ship and distance themselves from it as far and as quickly as they can by so many who rode it for the past few decades.   Those who persist longest in clinging to the disproven claims of the hoax will bear the brunt of whatever punishment is ultimately meted out, be it legal, financial, reputation-wise, or some combination of all these.   What is absolutely certain is that the AGW hypothesis is now dead as an issue of political concern, except as to the legal steps to be taken in the wake of its demise.    By national comparisons, the US is in the category of latest-acting countries, primarily because of the way its media is responding to the recent publicly revealed facts.   Yet even in the US, where support for the AGW hypothesis is dying a most prolonged death, there is only a minority still supporting it, and that minority is rapidly shrinking.   The facts are in.  The AGW is out.   That sums up the science of the issue, and with its lack of any remaining shred of scientific validity, the complete and total discrediting of the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind has no hope at all of escaping its well-deserved doom.

The Greatest Fraud in the History of Science:

Man-Caused Global Warming

Below is a short list of bullet points on the Anthropogenic (man-caused) Global Warming hypothesis (AGW).    It is a very small fraction of the numerous proofs of its fraudulence, and is intended only to open the minds of those who have been misled by the junk-science propaganda alleging that man’s activities are responsible for climate change and for a rise in atmospheric temperatures (which will – supposedly — have catastrophic implications for the future of life on this planet).

This fraud has been perpetrated over the course of more than an entire generation, for ulterior personal motives on the part of its conspirators.   It has been, from the start, an intentional conspiracy whose leaders have, in many cases, succeeded in vastly enriching themselves and/or obtaining vast political power for themselves at the expense – in both dollars and lives – of their victims, the rest of humanity.

Reminder:  the below is the merest taste of the facts behind this fraud, which has already been described as the greatest hoax in history by numerous credentialed scientists.

1.   From the late 1960s through the early-to-middle ‘70s, there was an attempt at a similar hoax alleging that irrefutable scientific evidence proved a catastrophic global cooling was imminent.  Ancillary to this hoax was the claim that the world was running out of natural resources, and that global cooling was going to destroy man’s ability to grow crops, that massive starvation would result, and that all life on the planet would be decimated.   There was no IPCC back then, but a group calling itself The Club of Rome, consisting of many of the hoax’s lead conspirators, was formed to lend credence to the fraud by means of their political stature and their apparent scientific credentials.   The basis for their claims was a computer model developed by Prof. Stephen Schneider of Stanford University.  The man who most closely played the role which ex-VP Albert Gore was later to play in the AGW hoax, was Paul Ehrlich, who for several years warned that by the year 2000, the US population would be less than 10% of its then-current level – ie, that there would be such starvation and freezing to death and illness resulting from atmospheric cooling caused by man’s pollution of the atmosphere via the emissions of fossil fuel consumption, that over 90% of the population in the world’s richest nation would have been killed by the year 2000.   At first this group received worldwide acclaim and there was a degree of panic and certainly alarm at their forecasts, but they made the mistake of making too many extreme near-term forecasts, which reality promptly & dramatically proved wrong, and after less than a decade, the “AGC” (Anthropogenic Global Cooling) hoax quietly disappeared from the front pages without fanfare or much comment on its passing.

After a brief period of mourning during which his role in that hoax was largely forgotten by the public, Prof. Schneider then resurrected his computer models showing exactly the same kind of imminent threat to the world, for exactly the same root cause (man’s pollution of the environment via the consumption of fossil fuels).  The difference was that this time, his computers were predicting catastrophic global warming instead of catastrophic global cooling.  Many other of the same people involved in the first hoax were also leaders in promulgating the second, which later became known as AGW – the Anthropogenic Global Warming hypothesis.

In the quiet, hoax-free period between the end of the failed global cooling hypothesis to the birth of the new global warming hypothesis, the group had learned from its mistakes and had perfected a much more slick and well-planned strategy for success, based on Prof. Schneider’s new computer models, which were now rigged to spit out “warm” instead of “cold” and to print out plus signs instead of minus signs in front of the temperature changes that were printed out.    Prof. Schneider is one of the top-most “scientific” advisors to the IPCC today.

It would be a lavish compliment to call Prof. Schneider a 3^rd rate scientist.   He has no significant accomplishments to his record other than the two proven hoaxes he helped engineer over the course of a 40 year career, devoted primarily to public relations with occasional attention to adjustment of the fudge factors in his computer models as reality proved his string of successive forecasts wrong.  It is my opinion, and the opinion of many of my science-oriented friends, that it is precisely because Schneider had no hope of accomplishing anything significant in science that he turned to fraud in order to make a name and a good income for himself.    On the positive side, it’s also my opinion that he would trounce all contenders save possibly Albert Gore, were the Nobel Committee to grant a Nobel Prize for Charlatanism, or for Negative Integrity In Science.

2.    The primary basis for the new claim of global warming was that the greenhouse effect (actually a misnomer) of atmospheric CO2 was increasing as a direct consequence of man’s emissions of same via his industrialization.    From the beginning, scientific data was manipulated to support the conspirators’ hypothesis.    One of the first pieces of “evidence” for their view was a graph of atmospheric temperature over the century from 1880 to 1980.   it showed a small but very clear rising trend.     This went unchallenged for a few years, though real scientists who were familiar with the data knew it was a fraud.  But since the conspirators behind it were still just a small fringe group, no one thought it necessary to challenge them.   As their influence began to grow, however, genuine scientists pointed out that there are several well known and well established cycles to the average atmospheric temperature, and one of them is a 200 year cycle.   Temperatures had indeed risen from 1880 to 1980, but they had been successively rising and falling repeatedly every 200 years.   What the AGW charlatans had done was to omit the full data and start their graph in 1880 because that was the most recent low point of the repeating cycle, so their graph naturally showed only the RISING half of the 200 year cycle.   As part of their clever new strategy, however, the AGW conspirators had created a huge POLITICAL following amongst the scientifically illiterate using this chart as one of their primary tools to recruit supporters for their political agenda from amongst people low on intelligence, but high in numbers.   By the time scientists caught wind of the fraud, there were millions of anthropomorphic zombies, immune to fact or logic which contradicted their mental programming, who had become crusaders for the new religion of global warming.   Each of them had the same right to vote in elections as an Einstein would have.    This is one of the factors enabling the hoax to succeed for so long.

The fellow who prepared that graph was forced to admit that the above refutation of its validlty  was true during a Q & A period after a public speech he made, when an informed member of the audience pinned him down.   Nevertheless, even years later this known-and-admitted-to-be-misleading graph was still in use by the AGW conspirators, and was even included by Al Gore in his book, Earth in the Balance.     It is provable that Mr Gore knew the worthlessness of the graph and its completely misleading effect, but he intentionally presented it as evidence for AGW in his book anyway, along with other falsehoods which he provably knew were false in many instances.

Right up into the mid-1990s this graph was still being presented by the AGW advocates, being foisted on an uninformed public, on whom this lie made a great impression.    Of note is the fact that as data after 1980 became available, it was never added to the graph – because the rising trend of the preceding data ceased to exist and actually turned downward for several years after 1980.    By the mid-1990s, the repeated exposures of this little hoax within the larger hoax made it harder for the AGW advocates to get away with using the chart, and the further past 1980 the calendar went, the harder it was to explain the omission of recent temperature values.   Finally use of the graph was abandoned for these two reasons.    The important thing to notice is that the AGW advocates had no qualms about using information they knew to be grossly misleading for as long as they felt they could get away with it.   As soon as the information lost its use-value for supporting their claims, they abandoned it – and that was the ONLY criterion for keeping or abandoning the “evidence” and arguments for their position.

3.  The pillar of the AGW hypothesis was that atmospheric CO2 caused a temperature rise, and they showed data and charts which revealed a rise in both atmospheric C02 content and temperature during the 1900s, and both lines on the chart were rising.   To the layman, this was a convincing piece of evidence in support of AGW.   However, anyone with a rudimentary familiarity with graphs and charts saw immediately that the chart was actually a refutation of the AGW’s basic premise.   Why?   Because well over 70% of the temperature rise occurred before WWII, before any appreciable industrialization had occurred even in the world’s most advanced industrial nation, the USA.    From 1900 to 1940, horses were still more numerous than cars, even in the US.   So how could one conclude that CO2 was the cause of the temperature rise when most of the temperature rise occurred BEFORE any change in atmospheric CO2 had occurred, and when – right from the very chart the AGW advocates had presented, as well as from data available from other sources – it was common knowledge that when the relatively larger increases in CO2 occurred, very little further warming occurred.  Indeed, once industrialization began to emit CO2 into the atmosphere, the actual rate of warming began to slow!!

An effect cannot precede its cause.  Thus, the AGW hypothesis was disproven virtually from inception.   Genuine scientists familiar with the hypothesis and the campaign to popularize it knew this from the beginning.   Many did not feel motivated sufficiently to speak out, because they saw little significance in yet another example of ignorance in the public domain, and scientists tend to shy away from the limelight anyway.   (Later on, there were even more varied and powerful incentives for good scientists to refrain from voicing their disagreement with the AGW hypothesis.)

4.   In Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, he showed a very large graph of more than 600,000 years worth of data, pointing to the similar, highly correlated movement of the CO2 line with the atmospheric temperature line.  This was a larger version of the same intentional lie.   The reason he picked such a long time scale is that even a few hundred years would be compressed into such a small slice of the chart, it was impossible to see the fine detail.    However, if you were to expand Gore’s chart, the actual data on his own chart show that WITHOUT EXCEPTION, every single atmospheric temperature change in our planet’s history has ALWAYS occurred BEFORE the associated change in the atmosphere’s CO2 content.

This is another fact that Al Gore had to know, because it was right there in the very data used to create his chart, and it is on the historical record.   There are, I repeat, NO exceptions.  Not one.   Temperature rises, then LATER the CO2 in the atmosphere rises.   Temperature falls, then LATER the atmospheric content of CO2 falls.   Every time.  ALWAYS.  NO exceptions.  Not a single one.   It is blatantly obvious to any reasonably proficient 7^th grade math student that it is IMPOSSIBLE for CO2 to be the cause of atmospheric temperature changes, when presented with the correct data in a non-manipulated format.  This fact has been known since even BEFORE the AGW hoax was first instigated.  (Incidentally, this also proves that P.T. Barnum was wrong when he said “A sucker is born every minute” – the real number is much larger than one.)

5.    Having followed this hoax personally since its inception, I will swear under oath that it has overflowed with erroneous statements and claims in a never ending stream, each excused by some “plausible denial” type of explanation.   There are literally HUNDREDS of such errors which have been popularized in the public media, only to be debunked or disproven WITHOUT public fanfare.   The public is thus left with the impression that there does exist some decent scientific evidence in favor of AGW, when in fact there is none whatsoever.  NONE.

The case for AGW has always depended primarily on THE MOST RECENTLY promulgated false data and arguments,  whose errors or falsehood have not been exposed yet because there hasn’t been time to do so yet.   Once the latest “evidence” is debunked, the AGW charlatans manufacture more false evidence, and popularize that, until it, too is proven false, after which they manufacture still newer lies.   It is interesting to note that of the countless errors identified in the AGW propaganda, NEVER ONCE has an error been made which worked against their agenda.  Every single one of the countless exposed “errors” has served to advance the apparent validity of their fraudulent claims.   This could not have happened if the errors were honest errors.

6.   To offer just one more of their popularly known fraudulent claims:    Al Gore’s now infamous documentary film shows polar bears isolated on “cows” of glaciers, ie ice floes which have broken off from glaciers, and he claimed that this was due to global warming which was threatening this species with extinction.   The fact is that according to population counts monitored by Norwegian authorities, official figures for the world’s polar bear population show that it has been increasing rapidly during recent decades, up several hundred percent in just the past very few decades alone.   In fact, the pictures shown in Gore’s film are another example of knowing fraud.   The photographer who took them was forced to admit there was no evidence of a link to global warming.    It is routine and normal for polar bears to be temporarily “stranded” on ice flows after storms which regularly cause the ice to “cow.”    That is precisely when the video segments of Gore’s film were made – right after such a storm.  Furthermore,  there is no need to worry about even these polar bears.   Polar bears can swim for well over 100 miles if necessary, so most of them have no trouble getting from these little floes back to where they prefer to be, when they choose to.

7.   The IPCC claims it has 2,500 scientists who concur in its own forecasts of global warming.  This is a lie.   Of the 2,500 the real number who can actually be said to support the IPCC’s summaries of their associated scientist’s views is under 400, and even this lower number is still an exaggeration.   Many of the contributing scientists who were paid by the IPCC were outraged by the first summary report, which misrepresented their conclusions and never even mentioned their dissent from those official IPCC conclusions, while the IPCC nevertheless included the names of those scientists on the list of those whose work they were summarizing, falsely stating that they concurred with the IPCC’s summary.   Many scientists resigned from the IPCC, giving up lucrative income for the integrity of science.   The IPCC, wanting to preserve the fiction that its conclusions were unbiased and unanimous, refused in many cases to remove these scientists’ names from their list!!!   I know of one fellow, a well regarded scientist, who struggled unsuccessfully to have the IPCC remove his name from their list, until he finally threatened to sue them for defamation of character in open court, where he would claim damages on the grounds that they were attributing to him, a professional scientist, support for what was effectively a lie and a hoax.   It took that threat to get the IPCC to finally remove his name from their list of claimed supporting scientists.

8,.   Even if we were to very generously grant the IPCC’s claim of 2500 scientists, not all of them are in the relevant fields.   Many are SOCIAL scientists, or have degrees in ECONOMIC science, yet are counted in the total (this is, incidentally, part of the reason why even the 400 number above is actually an exaggeration of the true number).    However, over 32,000 scientists have signed a petition which asserts that there is no credible evidence for the AGW hypothesis.  The signers of this petition, of whom I am one, ALL hold degrees in the relevant fields, such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, oceanography, astrophysics, geology, etc, and over 9,000 of them hold PhDs in these fields (that’s almost 4 TIMES the bloated TOTAL figure  the IPCC claims).    Yet on the basis of an inflated 2,500 scientists which includes social scientists, etc., WHO ARE HIGHLY REMUNERATED BY THE IPCC, the IPCC claims that “the science is settled.”

9.   After being forced to admit an error discovered by an interested scientist, the global warmers’ claim that the year 2008 was one of the “warmest on record” was proven false.   As everyone knows, Russia is a substantial land mass, and these records are matters of a small fraction of a degree, akin to the hundredths of seconds by which Olympic athletes win races.   Well, the global warmers – the people who SUPPLY THE RAW DATA TO ALL THE OTHER RESEARCH SCIENTISTS IN THE WORLD (ie, these are the charlatans of the Climategate scandal who fudged the data ALL OTHER scientists were working with) – had “accidentally” taken the temperature from the warmest summer month, August, in the 2008 data, and then used it twice – because they also replaced one of the winter months’ figures with that summer data.   One month from one nation amongst all the months of all the nations was something the hoaxsters thought no one would notice, and even if they did (as they in fact did), the charlatans had the “plausible denial” escape of claiming it was an error – another one of those hundreds of errors they’ve made, of which NOT ONE has worked to reduce the alleged advance of temperature over time, but every single “error” without exception is worked to falsely bolster their fraudulent hypothesis.

10.   It was a similar error that enabled the scam conspirators to claim that the past decade was the warmest of the past century.   When corrected, the warmest decade was the 1930s.   This is now agreed upon fact.    Most of the public is still under the impression, though, that recent temperatures have been the warmest, because the phony claim was made in the headlines, and the correction went virtually unreported except in scientific publications.

11.   Rising sea levels are another lie.   On its face the claim is wrong.    Fill a glass of ICE water to the brim.   The ice cubes will project partially ABOVE the glass’s rim.   Let them melt.  Not a drop will overflow the glass.  That is because water expands when frozen and CONTRACTS in volume when it melts.   By the basic laws (of high school physics) governing displacement of objects floating in fluids, the difference in volume MUST OF NECESSITY be precisely equal to the volume of the ice that projected above the surface when the ice was solid.   IE, there is a shrinkage in volume of the ice when it melts into water, and it is by an amount EXACTLY equal to the volume of it which had protruded above the surface when it was in the form of ice.   The melting of sea or polar ice will follow the same laws of nature and have no effect on sea level.  This is an admitted simplification.   Ice on land that melts will add to the volume of the seas.  However, ice is fresh water and the sea contains salt.  This reduces the volume by which land ice will add to the sea.  Furthermore, to offset this, higher temperatures mean more evaporation from the sea – for every 10 degree rise in temperature, the amount of water the atmosphere can hold rises by 100%!!   This and other factors, however, are all minor points.    The claims of rising sea levels are essentially refuted by the early sentences above.  The fine points may result in miniscule rises OR DROPS in sea level, depending on the specific circumstances.   A few degrees of warming, such as those forecast even by the AGW computer models, would actually lead to a DROP in sea levels!!

12.   I could keep going until I’d made several hundred points refuting the myths of the AGW hypothesizers, and this is just intended to provide an introductory overview.    So I will stop after this and just two more points following it.

The overall claims about recent “record” warming are outright falsehoods.   It is well known that for about 50 years either side of the year 1040 or so, temperatures – at least in the northern hemisphere – were FAR warmer than they are now.    This was the period when Greenland got its name – because it was so green.    There is ample scientific record of the warmth, and there are countless anecdotal records of it.   We’ve all read about the vineyards of Great Britain when King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table reigned.   There are literally thousands of references in  literature, in memoirs, in town records, in crop results, in the types of crops and vegetation grown and the latitudes at which it was grown, which confirm the scientific records of temperatures far, far warmer than they are today.    Following this period, temperatures gradually declined and by the early 1700s we entered what is called the “Little Ice Age.”    You have undoubtedly seen the paintings of George Washington crossing an ice-strewn Delaware, and the reports of snows during the Revolutionary War during months which we now regard as mid-Fall and mid-Spring.    Since the nadir of that “Little Ice Age,” temperatures have been rising in a zig-zag fashion.   If we examine the temperature of the last 3,000 years, the LOWEST point occurred precisely during the “Little Ice Age,” about 300 years ago.    Their rise during the past 3 centuries has brought them to their current level, which is almost but NOT QUITE AS HIGH AS THE AVERAGE temperature of the past 3,000 years.   Far from being record-warm, we are still below (albeit only slightly) the average of the past 3,000 years.    The Man-Caused Global Warming hypothesis is founded on nothing.   It is 100% claptrap.   Blatant facts are ignored on the assumption that the ignorant and trusting public will believe the lies, because who would dare to say something so easily disproven?   Well, Al Gore would.  Phil Jones would.   Michael Mann would.  Stephen Schneider would.    They would and they have and they do.   They simply lie.   Many of them believe so strongly in their almost religious-like fanaticism in opposition to human material progress, that they have said on the record – including in the Climategate papers – that they have a moral obligation to push the global warming idea even when they know the specific facts of a particular argument do not support their view, and that they have a moral obligation to massage or fudge those facts into alignment with their view..   This they have done repeatedly.    And many, including apparently the honorable but misinformed dupes of these charlatans in the RI State Legislature, have swallowed the lies hook, line and sinker.

13.    Lastly, I will report one fact which you will probably not believe, it’s so outrageously unbelievable.  But fact is stranger than fiction, so brace yourself for a surprise.

Despite the estimates that over $50 billion worldwide has been spent on man-caused global warming research, not one piece of evidence supporting it has yet been found.  Not one.

This is absolutely correct.

If you don’t believe it, ask whoever is your most revered or trusted source in favor of the AGW hypothesis to provide you with the name of a SINGLE paper published in ANY bona fide peer-reviewed scientific journal ANYWHERE ON EARTH, which has shown evidence (not even proof, but just evidence, just SOME little bit of actual evidence) of a link or connection of ANY kind between ANY of the hundreds and thousands of types of activities man engages in and ANY of the many aspects of climate change OR of atmospheric temperature change.   Ask for the name of ONE SUCH PAPER ANYWHERE ON EARTH.    You will never get it, because there are NONE AT ALL, ZERO, NADA, ZIP.    Every $billion is a THOUSAND millions, and many research projects have been funded for little more than $100,000.    Despite all that searching by all those scientists all over the globe, no one yet has come across even a piece of EVIDENCE for an effect on ANY aspect of climate change or atmospheric temperature change caused by ANY of mankind’s behaviors.   Call Al Gore and ask him.   Call Jim Hansen, the scourge of NASA, and ask him.    Call the head of the Oceanography Dept at URI or the head of the Physics Dept at Brown University and ask them.   Ask THEM to ask the scientists THEY know who are most likely to be familiar with the literature on the topic.    Try to get any of these people to refer you to a SINGLE paper published in a bona fide peer-reviewed scientific journal which has provided evidence of a link between any of man’s activities and climate change, or atmospheric temperature change – from ANY such publication anywhere on earth.     Try hard.    You will not get an answer, because there is no such paper.  No such paper has ever been written.    Because there is no link between man’s activity and climate.     Yet at one point in recent history, more than half the people in the Western world believed very strongly that such links had been PROVEN, when there isn’t even a shred of EVIDENCE for it, or for any tiny part of it.

Amazing, isn’t it?    Maybe PT Barnum was wrong when he said “there’s a sucker born every minute.”    Maybe he should have raised his estimate by about a million-fold.

14.   Finally, here’s a little science that’s also common sense.    There have been numerous attempts to find a simple explanation for temperature changes over long periods.    The best one is the most common-sensical one.

If you make a chart of the temperature and then place on that same chart the history of solar activity, you will think you are looking at virtually the same zig-zagging line, with a slight lag.   Mathematically, the correlation between the two series of numbers over time has been calculated to as high as 94%.   A more active sun is followed promptly by an increase in atmospheric temperature, and a diminution in solar activity is shortly followed by a reduction in atmospheric temperature.

Is it any surprise that the sun, which bathes earth with energy 24/7 year in and year out, should play a dominant role in our planet’s atmospheric temperature?   We have just seen two of the coldest winters in recent memory, and they occurred during a period of almost unprecedented LACK of solar activity.

When the sun is “active” there are many “solar storms.”  That’s what we mean by “active.”    Storms mean solar flares, and these spew out incredible amounts of matter as well as electromagnetic radiation.   The earth, bathed constantly in the solar wind, absorbs more energy as the increased radiation hits our atmosphere and penetrates into it.    What can compare to the magnitude of the sun’s influx of energy?   Nothing else comes close.

There is most of the answer, if you really are sincere in looking for an answer, to what causes climate change and atmospheric temperature change, the sun.    There’s a good chance if you posed the problem in terms he could understand, any 5 year old would immediately guess “the sun” as the answer for what heats up the atmosphere..    Maybe it’s because a 5 year old hasn’t had his common sense destroyed by contact with a lot of shysters yet.

The Climate Research Unit (CRU) group of scientists based at the University of East Anglia had their mail server hacked and we’ve got quite a few links for you with the details. First off, if accessing and copying the information was illegal, those responsible should be charged. That said, how valuable is this information? Is the context missing? You decide.

One thing seems for certain when you browse through the links … the CRU scientists have absolutely no love for other scientists who may peer review and come up with a different opinion.

One site has built up a search engine for those of you familiar with the science and interested in wading through all of the documentation.

There has been no increase in CO2 since 1850

Actually, there has been an increase in the amount of CO₂ emitted by human activity – including breathing – since 1850. That fact is not in dispute. But the increase in CO₂ emissions does not mean the earth is dealing with higher levels of CO₂ in the atmosphere.

AJ over at Strata-Sphere blog wraps up a report from Wolfgang Knorr (science warning) at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Bristol, Bristol, UK. The report is well beyond my science abilities, but that is why we link to the smart folks like AJ and those at What’s Up With That? to interpret the data and reports.

First from What’s Up With That? … with my emphasis added.

New data show that the balance between the airborne and the absorbed fraction of carbon dioxide has stayed approximately constant since 1850, despite emissions of carbon dioxide having risen from about 2 billion tons a year in 1850 to 35 billion tons a year now.

This suggests that terrestrial ecosystems and the oceans have a much greater capacity to absorb CO2 than had been previously expected.

The results run contrary to a significant body of recent research which expects that the capacity of terrestrial ecosystems and the oceans to absorb CO2 should start to diminish as CO2 emissions increase, letting greenhouse gas levels skyrocket. Dr Wolfgang Knorr at the University of Bristol found that in fact the trend in the airborne fraction since 1850 has only been 0.7 ± 1.4% per decade, which is essentially zero.

Oops! Not sure how we all missed that one. What this means is our wonderful blue planet has been able to absorb the increased CO2 production without skipping a beat. Therefore, while we produce more CO2 our portion of CO2 in the air is not increasing.

My biggest challenge to the alarmists data is they cannot prove they can produce a global index to a  0.5°C of a degree accuracy for one day or month, let alone map it back over 100 years with .15°C accuracy (no one could produce that precision in the late 1800’s because they can’t produce that today even for a small region).  With real error bars applied there has been no measurable warming.

This block buster news goes hand in hand with another scientific result that proves the alarmists are nothing more than Chicken Littles running around with unvalidated models which have yet to reflect reality. The green house gas hypothesis claims that CO2 traps heat, which cannot be emitted out into space. The model claims that rising CO2 will result in flat or reduced thermal emission into space as the CO2 acts as a blanket.

However, decades of satellite data show just the opposite.

We know the global warming – rebranded climate change – alarmists like Al Gore can not handle data like this, and quite honestly, neither can I. But one thing is for certain, the science is not settled and alarmists saying so must be looked at critically since they are the ones putting their collective heads in the sand.

Why do they want to ignore peer-reviewed data and reports like this? Maybe it’s just easier to show pictures of “stranded” polar bears on thining ice flows and make the children cry so they can gather more control and take away more of our liberties and freedom.
